Hail to the King. The King of Monsters to be precise.
That's right! Gojira (Godzilla) himself is returning to theaters this May for what looks like one promising reboot, revamp, and even a shot at redemption for us Americans who so insultingly blew our first attempt in 1998 (In all honesty, it was a decent monster movie, but not at all worthy of the title "Godzilla").
The first time I saw this trailer, my hair was standing, the chills were going down my spine, my heart was beating....oh my gawt. But what I really fell in love with was the ROAR! OH MY GAWD THAT ROAR. JUST TAKE A LISTEN IT'S FANTASTIC!
You can probably tell I am absolutely giddy for this movie. Not only does it show absolute promise but...it's Godzilla. You can't go wrong with the guy. And so I took my favorite moment from the trailer, him letting out that roar, and put it on a canvas to oil pastel. This was actually a lot harder than you think. All the blending in this to show the dust, depth, shadow...it was hard to put on this canvas, and it's still not the best, but I think I'm fairly satisfied with how it looks here.
Hey man it was only a matter of time before I did a Godzilla submission. The two best things Japan has given us is Godzilla and Pokémon.
